Rex Maughan purchased the Magheramorne Estate in October 2000, which became the headquarters of Forever Living in Ireland, recognising the long-term aspirations of both the company and its Forever Business Owners as well as setting our roots in an ideal location to service our expanding business throughout Ireland.
Magheramorne House was built in 1881 by Sir James Hogg to mark his rise to the peerage as Baron Magheramorne. Set within 43 acres of idyllic woodland, it commands a strategic position on the main Causeway Coastal route in County Antrim, with scenic views of Larne Lough nature reserve.
The house was occupied by the Baron’s family until 1904 when Colonel James McCalmont began residing there. Around 1932, the Magheramorne Estate, including the house, was purchased by Major Harold Robinson, who is attributed with transforming the house and grounds by recreating the gardens and walks and planting many of the 150 difference species of woodland trees. Many of these are still located within the Estate, and in 2004, the Irish Tree Society confirmed our entries in the Irish Tree Register as having an Irish Height Champion (Summit Cedar) and the tallest tree in County Antrim (Grand Fir).
Magheramorne House is now a Grade 2 listed building and during the last century was a residential home before becoming a privately owned hotel in the 1970’s. The hotel closed in the late 1990’s, prior to Rex Maughan’s purchase in 2000. There is an abundance of wildlife within the Magheramorne Estate and we hope many of you will enjoy the beautiful surroundings any time you call. During your next visit to Magheramorne House, keep an eye out for our resident ghost who haunts the upper floors of the main building!
